Parish Blini Fundraising Luncheon – 23 February 2025, 12:30 PM
St. Xenia Parish has a long-standing tradition of hosting the annual Blini Fundraising Luncheon. Last year’s event was a great success, thanks to the efforts of the parish council, the Sisterhood, and many volunteers who helped with the preparations.
This year, the Parish Council, Sisterhood and Brotherhood are again organizing the event for our community that will happen on February 23, 12:30 PM. Funds raised will go towards the parish’s operational requirements, with a special focus on helping those in need.
A traditional pre-Lenten Russian meal, Maslenitsa or Butter Week menu, will be offered, including blini, red salmon caviar, and various other traditional toppings. A welcome glass of wine will also be included with the meal, and additional drinks and beverages will be available. We are also looking towards auctioning off special offers.
We encourage all St. Xenia parishioners to attend and invite their friends to partake in this enjoyable traditional afternoon. Adult tickets are $50, while Children under 10 are $25. Please purchase your tickets in advance, well before February 23. Tickets can be bought from any Council Member or by contacting the Parish Warden, Michael Popovich, at 613-614-8154 or the Head Sister, Matushka Sarah Kambites, at 613-276-8010 for more information.
Note that the Maslenitsa week ends the following Forgiveness Sunday, March 2. On that day immediately following Divine Liturgy, Fr Oleg will serve the important Forgiveness Vespers in preparation for the start of Great Lent the next day. Please plan to stay for this short but important service as a first step towards preparations for Holy Pascha.
Fr. Oleg Mironov, Parish Council, Sisterhood and Brotherhood
