Join Us on a Pilgrimage to Mount Athos – April 2026
St. Xenia Parish invites you to join a pilgrimage to Mount Athos, one of the most important spiritual centers for Orthodox Christians.
The group is scheduled to depart from Ottawa on April 20 and return on April 28, though exact dates may shift by a few days. The pilgrimage will take place in Greece, and participants are responsible for ensuring they meet all travel requirements. Some may require a visa both to enter Greece and to return to Canada.
Pilgrims may choose to travel together or individually, with a meeting point in Thessaloniki. Meals and accommodations on Mount Athos are provided free of charge. Participants are asked to make a moderate contribution for accommodations in Thessaloniki, as well as bus and ferry travel to and from Mount Athos. Ferry and local transportation costs may average around $100 per day. Airfare to and from Greece is the responsibility of each participant.
Please note that access to Mount Athos is restricted: only Orthodox Christian men are permitted to enter, and some sites require a reasonable level of physical fitness to reach.
